Commercial kitchen cleaning, commercial office cleaning, and providing janitorial services is all very difficult work. When working these jobs, you’ll often come in contact with hard to clean areas, such as behind toilets, heating and air covers, and ceilings. Ceilings are one of the most common areas that commercial cleaners have trouble keeping clean. From ceiling fans to light fixtures, it can be difficult to reach up to these heights without a ladder. However, there is an easier way to clean these areas, one that doesn’t require another person to hold a ladder for you. If you regularly clean ceilings, it may be time to invest in an extendable duster with a pivoting head. The extension of the duster will allow you to reach these difficult spaces and the pivoting head will help you get into every nook and cranny. Be sure to purchase one without a feather duster head, and preferably some form of cloth head, as feather dusters do not do an adequate job of removing all of the dust off of surfaces.

If the area you’re cleaning has high up vents, you can use an extendable duster on these as well. However, vents can accumulate a lot of dust and dirt very quickly. If the vent you’re cleaning needs more than a basic touch up, be sure to wipe it down using a damp sponge. Soak the sponge in soapy water or disinfectant and wipe down the entire vent. Using a sponge as opposed to a cloth will allow you to easily wipe into all of the crevices of a vent. A sponge’s squishy texture will allow it to form to the vent and wipe off  any dirt and grime.

Another area that isn’t high up but is hard to reach is behind the toilet in a bathroom. All homes and many offices will have these areas, so it’s important that you know how to clean them in a quick and quality way. This is where your sponge will come in handy again. Use a seperate extendable duster to remove any hair or dust that has accumulated behind the toilet, and then use a sponge soaked in disinfectant to deep clean the rest of the area.
